Eastern Montgomery Elementary School

Montgomery County Public Schools
Elliston, Virginia

Montgomery County Public Schools has begun the construction of a new prototype elementary school. The new 660-student elementary school will first be built to serve the communities of eastern Montgomery County. This school design will also be constructed in the Prices Fork community.

A design committee made up of teachers, administrators, students, and residents from all of the communities met to discuss their goals and priorities for the design of the new schools. Many educational as well as community use features have been incorporated into the design. The administrative offices are located prominently at the main entrance to have good supervision of all visitors entering the facility. The grade levels are broken down into two smaller “neighborhoods” comprised respectively of the lower and upper grade levels. The Library, Gymnasium, Dining Room and stage are located so they may operate after hours for community use, while the academic portion of the building is secured.

Construction is expected to be complete in June 2010.
